“Islamophobia (lived through anti-Muslim racism) is a defunct creature that affects both the individual and collective experience. These living stories must be told by the right bodies, in the right spaces. They must be told by filling the void between ideal and non-ideal representation. And they can be taken on by every single one of us.

PRODUCTION

Paani is a devised theatre piece that chronicles experiences in, of, and around anti-Muslim racism in North America. It is a story that, in our current social and political climate, has to be presented and responded to.

The play, being a devised piece, was a collaboration between the entire production and performance team. An amalgamation of live music, dance, spoken word, mask, and storytelling – performed by members of Blowfish. We would be nothing without our company.
