The Final Trope

The Final Trope

Project Director and Producer

F*** societal norms! [...] We want [The Final Trope] to disrupt the conventional and make people walk away with a more open and curious mind.”

EXHIBIT

The Final Trope was an immersive installation at the Hokin Gallery that ran from October 29 until December 12, 2018. Curated by Owen Rodriguez, this exhibit featured a collection of horror movie histories, intertwining the concept of horror movie tropes and cliches. The exhibit followed a group of five characters that lead to different rooms to shed light and blood on these concepts.

The narrative was told in a linear fashion, like a film, where audience members could follow along with the story. The space presented props, costumes, posters, and artwork all thematically displayed inside a haunted house like atmosphere.

FILM

In the span of eight weeks, we transformed the blank canvas into an immersive exhibition, the first to be done at the Hokin Gallery. With a team of over forty students, we built a set, filmed a short horror film, opened a gallery show to the public and hosted three events.
